Resolution 64:2 – Memorial Resolution Elder Paul Cox

Elder Paul Cox was ushered into the presence of the Lord March 13, 2000. He was born into a Christian home March 12, 1920 and was raised a Presbyterian. At the age of 13 he was saved after having talked to his pastor about the Lord. In June, 1942 he went into military service and continued to faithfully attend the church services. While in the Army he served in the South Pacific. Later he was discharged in October, 1945.

On May 10, 1947 he married Shirley. They were both active in their church and Paul first served as a deacon and then as an elder (the youngest elder ever elected at that church). Their only child, a son, was born in 1952. During the 1960’s the Coxes began looking for a church that was faithful to the Gospel. In 1966, they were introduced to the Grace Bible Presbyterian Church in Sharonville, Ohio. They later became members of that church where Paul first served as deacon and then as elder.

In September, 1971 their son attended Shelton College in Cape Canaveral, Florida, intending to go into the ministry; but, in God’s providence, he was taken home to the Lord in October, 1971.

In 1973, the Coxes went into home mission work at the Christian Admiral Bible Conference in Cape May, NJ. In 1976 the Coxes moved to Cape Canaveral, Florida and they took Bible courses at Shelton College.

Mr. Cox later served as an elder at Grace Bible Presbyterian Church in Cape Canaveral until his homecoming this year.

One of his favorite verses was, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way of escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13)
