RESOLUTION 75:07: The 400th Anniversary of the KJV
Whereas 2011 is the 400th anniversary of the King James Version of the Bible, which has been a great source of blessing to the Christian Church in the English-speaking world since the Reformation, and has been used of God to spark thousands of revivals and has had a major impact on our beloved fellowship; and
Whereas this version of the Bible has been used of God to bless the hearts and lives of millions for 400 years;
Therefore, be it resolved that, while understanding that divine inspiration lies only in the original autographs, given to us by holy men of God as they were moved by the Holy Ghost (2 Peter 1:21), and understanding that the hand of divine preservation has been demonstrated by the vast array of extant manuscripts in the original languages, we, the members of the Bible Presbyterian Church General Synod go on record believing and acknowledging that the King James Version of the Bible is a faithful translation, profoundly accurate, spiritually blessed, majestically common, and graciously given to the English speaking world; and
Be it further resolved, that we the members of the Bible Presbyterian Church General Synod, meeting August 11-16, 2011, at the Tacoma Bible Presbyterian Church, are deeply grateful and thank our most gracious and sovereign God for giving to us this translation of the Bible for the propagation of the Gospel of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
