Resolution 83:07: Memorial for John V. Koontz

John Koontz was born in Baltimore, MD on April 13, 1926.  On June 22, 2019, at the age of 93, he went home to heaven.  John and his sister, Grace, moved to Florida in 1997.  Their father was a Presbyterian minister.  John never married.

John’s life was devoted to serving and magnifying his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.  John served in a Presbyterian Church in St Louis, MO.  Later, he had a radio broadcast that covered the Washington, D.C. area.

John served in the ministry of Father Theological Seminary in Philadelphia.  He served as a research assistant to the seminary president, Dr. Allan A. MacRae.

John and Grace were an active part of Suncoast Bible Presbyterian Church until it became difficult for him to drive to Palm Harbor from St Petersburg.  He wanted to remain in the Tropical Gardens Mobile Home Park because of the ministry he had in various nursing homes and to his neighbors.  He became part of the Chaplain’s Care Ministry. 

John’s work was finished when he became weak from cancer and following a short stay in hospice passed on to Heaven. John’s desire was to “finish well.” On John’s last visit to a nearby nursing home, an elderly lady trusted Jesus Christ as her Savior.

Burial was at Royal Palm South Cemetery in Pinellas Park, FL.
