88-2: A Call for Christians to Return to Obedience in Attendance of In-person Church Worship Services
Whereas, in many places church attendance declined during the COVID pandemic and has not returned to previous levels, and
Whereas, many churches across the nation have promoted watching worship services on the computer or television from home, often
leading to a decline in in-person attendance, and
Whereas, many Christians who leave home for college have fallen away from the practice of regular church attendance, and
Whereas, the Scriptures command us to gather together for worship ([Heb 10:25 ESV] not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of
some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.), and declare that Christians must and will continue in the faith by the work of the Holy Spirit ([Pro 22:6 ESV] 6 Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it., [Phl 1:6 ESV] 6 And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.),
Now, therefore, be it
Resolved that the 88th General Synod of the Bible Presbyterian Church, meeting August 6-8, 2025, in Cincinnati Ohio, calls on Christians everywhere, so far as their health allows, to faithfully return to obedience in attendance of in-person church worship services.
