Resolution 82:02: Memorial for Richard Hooper

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. – 1 Corinthians 15:57

Richard “Dick” Hooper served as an elder at Grace Bible Presbyterian Church, Cincinnati, Ohio for over 20 years. Much of his time was spent serving on various committees, such as the missions committee, fellowship committee, and as a meticulous clerk of Session. Dick held a doctorate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, yet was also an example of Christ-like humility. He was a life-long employee of General Electric.

Dick was married to his dear wife Lorraine for 51 years and is survived by his wife, and 3 children: Joyce Kjoverstad, Stephen Hooper, Daniel Hooper, and 9 grandchildren. Dick is remembered as a selfless, and caring soul who set an example of godly, tender love for his family and friends. He was a quiet man, yet when he spoke he was very wise and helpful.

Dick’s ministry of service began at First Presbyterian Church of Schenectady, New York where he helped lead that historic church onto orthodox ground and out of a liberal denomination. In addition to this he was a tireless servant with the Gideon’s for many years, witnessing the gospel and distributing the Word of God.

By his faithful and humble service, “he being dead yet speaks.” Hebrews 11:4b
